Music Notes 4/4/2021

Sorry that I haven’t written for a while. I had to take some time in March to take care of personal business but I’m baaaacccckkkk!!! And apparently music venues, night clubs and concert halls will be back as well throughout California starting April 15th. That kind of news is music to the ears of many music venue owners, producers, promoters, publicists, musicians, dj’s. bands, performers, stage and sound crews and entertainment workers who keep venues and concerts functioning. The venues are opening to a 3 tier system with the largest venues being limited to 25% capacity and they will be required to follow social distancing limitations and requirements.

Adrian Goddard of Jaffe Events has been testing the waters for live DJ events for a few months now. He is reviving his Salsa By The Bay DJ events on Sunday, April 11th from 3 to 7 pm at District Six formerly known as the SoMa StrEat Food Park, 428 11th Street in San Francisco. This outdoor venue will feature DJ’s Antonio and DJ Tony O of Es Tu Ritmo.com

I’ll be updating this information with other news on venues as they open back up. Venues such as the Seahorse in Sausalito and Los Moles in El Cerrito and San Rafael have been outdoor events for a number of months with strict COVID guidelines. The COVID scare is far from over but as far as more folks are getting their vaccinations, the possibilities of things going back to semi normal are looking positive. Just remember to wear your mask, stay socially distanced. stay safe and take care of each other when you’re out there trying to have a good time in the age of COVID.

Livestream news: Global traveler and esteemed pianist Omar Sosa will be back in the SF Area for yet another livestream. This time, Omar will be live streaming on Sunday, April 18 at 4:30 pm PST from the legendary Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society at Pete Douglas’ Beach House in Half Moon Bay. Omar has assembled a unique band for the occasion including two of his early Bay Area collaborators: drummer Josh Jones and saxophonist Sheldon Brown. The remarkable Cuban bassist Ernesto Mazar Kindelan will be joining Omar and company for this special gig. The live stream is a ticketed event. Tickets are available from the Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society website: www.bachddsoc.org.

Ciao 4 now. See you next time!!
