Music Notes: Rumbalu and Live-DJ Music in Pandemia!

SF Bay Area based Pianist/Composer/Producer Oscar Ly has released his new Salsa recording with his group Rumbalu entitled “Oscar Ly Presents Rumbalu“. The recording features some illustrious special guests such as Santana percussionist Karl Perazo, vocalist Ivan Rendon, conga phenom Richie Flores, famed Fania All Star bassist Sal Cuevas, renowned singer/songwriter/producer Nino Segarra, vocalist Sarah Vicenty and saxophonist Nelson Rangell. Live/DJ Music during the Pandemic is making a little bit of a comeback now that the vaccines are being distributed to the general public. The Seahorse, one of the traditional Sunday pre-pandemic Salsa dancing hot spots in Sausalito, Marin County is now featuring DJ Salsa music while you dine with fellow KPFA/KPOO DJ Jose Ruiz on Saturdays and Jimmy Ahron “DJ Griego” on Sundays from 4 to 8 pm. Brunch is available outdoors and dancing is allowed with masks and staying socially distanced.

Los Moles Beer Garden in El Cerrito is featuring the sounds of the Charlie Barreda(the vibraphonist with VibraSON) on piano and his All Stars with bassist David Pinto and vocalist/multi instrumentalist Ramon Garcia on Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm. The Los Moles location in San Rafael is featuring percussionist Rene Escovedo’s Trio while you dine as well. And…Longtime DJ Tony O is featured at the Caribbean Gardens in Burlingame on Saturday and Sunday from 4 to 9 pm.
