Charismatic composer/timbalero/vocalist Mario Salomon and his group “Mario Y Su Timbeko” have been playing exciting modern Cuban music in the SF Bay Area for a few years now. His Timbeko has broken into the scene by seducing audiences with their infectious timba drenched sound.
In contrast to bigger bands, Salomon leads a smaller group of six that sounds double that size. They are coming out with three singles scheduled for this year. The first one “Nadie Sabe Nada” features the band: bassist Ayla Davila, David Lechuga on electric guitar, Erick Peralta on keyboards, Carlos Caro on congas, Jason Moen on keyboards, Juan Luis Perez and Christelle Durandy on Coro and Mario on timbales, percussion and lead vocals. Special guest Yordys Larrazabal from Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor is also featured on lead vocals.
Mario debuted the video of “Nadie Sabe Nada” during the online Carnaval SF Livestream during Memorial Day weekend. It’s an infectious song for Summer that will make you feel better during quarantine. The other two songs “Sola Te Quedaste” and “I Got What You Want” will be released later this year. The live version of the band also features Jordan Wilson on lead vocals and guitar.
