Music Notes 4/4/2021

Sorry that I haven’t written for a while. I had to take some time in March to take care of personal business but I’m baaaacccckkkk!!! And apparently music venues, night clubs and concert halls will be back as well throughout California starting April 15th. That kind of news is music to the ears of many music venue owners, producers, promoters, publicists, musicians, dj’s. bands, performers, stage and sound crews and entertainment workers who keep venues and concerts functioning.

Sabiduria Con Tumbao Playlist 3/17/2021

I interviewed the popular African vocalist Ricardo Lemvo who has a great recording out called N’Dona Ponte. Lemvo, originally from Kimpese in the Congo created his infectious signature sound that mixes his rich vocals on top of infectious Cuban Son, Salsa dura with African rhythms such as Semba, Kizomba and Soukous for the past 25 years.

Con Sabor Playlist 3/13/2021

Tonight, we paid tribute to the late, great Cuban rumbero/composer Raul Brito “Lali” of the seminal Cuban rumba group “Clave Y Guaguanco” who died of a heart attack earlier this month. Lali’s music has been played by artists such as Septeto Nacional De Ignacio Pineiro to John Santos and the Coro Folklorico Kindembo. Lali was an exceptional human being with a big heart and radiant smile as well as a great singer and percussionist. I gave a musical tribute to Lali this evening…RIP.
