Sabiduria Con Tumbao Playlist-Johnny Pacheco Tribute 2/17/2021
I got the news on Monday, February 15th that we lost a giant in Latin Music. Johnny Pacheco (born Juan Pablo Pacheco Knipping) died on Feb. 15th at the age of 85. Pacheco, the brilliant musician, producer, composer, arranger, bandleader, co-founder of Fania Records and the creator of the worldwide sensation The Fania All Stars influenced generations of Salsa and Latin Music musicians. We celebrated the music of Johnny Pacheco with a Sabiduria Con Tumbao tribute on WorldSalsaRadio.com on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

This week, Sabiduria Con Tumbao featured a 1993 interview with the late, prolific Record Producer/Multi-instrumentalist/Composer/Arranger Louie Ramirez and vocalist Ray De La Paz to inaugurate our new Producer’s Corner series. The Six at 6 pm featured a tribute to “El Sonero Mayor”…the one and only Ismael Rivera!

On Sat. 2/6, I featured an interview with the legendary Salsa pianist Richie Ray (born Richard Maldonado) of the famed duo of Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz. Richie Ray has just come out with the recording “Salsa Jazz and Beethoven” featuring the break out hit “La Reina Abeja” which is Richie’s salsafied take on “The Flight Of The Bumble Bee”.
