This week I had a feature on the role of the vibraphone in Salsa and Latin Jazz. The range of artists ranged from Cal Tjader to Joe Cuba to La Siete Potencias to the SF Bay Area’s own Vibrason. The Six at 6 (pm) featured scintillating salsa from Colombia.

Hi Everybody/Hola Mi Gente, this past week, Sabiduria Con Tumbao did a feature on the prolific Cuban bandleader/vocalist/composer/producer Adalberto Alvarez in the first hour. I also paid a 94th birthday tribute to Rafael Ithier (pictured left), the pianist and founder of Puerto Rico’s iconic orchestra El Gran Combo now enjoying 58 years in show business on our Six at 6 (pm) segment.

Hi Everybody/Hola Mi Gente, I gave tribute to one of the great Puerto Rican soneros/boleristas of all time, Jose “Cheo” Feliciano in an expanded Six At 6 (pm) segment. There was so much music in his repertoire that we took up the entire second hour of Sabiduria Con Tumbao with longer tracks that exemplified his genius at the soneo!
