Sabiduria Con Tumbao ended the first month of 2021 with an extended tribute to conga legend Mongo Santamaria which included the Six at 6 pm segment tribute. This program brought back good memories of exceptional concerts that featured this great conga master!

I presented a fresh program that featured new music by SF based artists Sentimento Y Manana, PMO vocalist Braulio Barrera’s collaboration with Peruvian legend Coco Linares, Carlos Xavier, the new Cuban timba gods Leonardo Diago Y La Nueva Era, the return of Calle Real, Mixael Cabrera, Nic N’Taya, Orquesta Abran Paso with Fania legend Adalberto Santiago and The Big Jhony.

Sabiduria Con Tumbao featured a Six at 6 pm segment tribute to Fania All Stars member, Bandleader, Bongo legend and Dancer Roberto Roena who turned 81 years old this month. Roena, a true showman has had a star studded career since joining Rafael Cortijo’s group at the tender age of 16. He later joined El Gran Combo before forming his group, The Apollo Sound in 1969.

Salsa piano legend Ricardo (Richie) Ray has just released a new instrumental recording Salsa Jazz and Beethoven on his own label. Richie studied classical piano at the prestigious Julliard School Of Music before launching into his five decade plus career back in the 1960’s.
