Edgardo Cambon y Candela at 3rd Annual Latin Jazz Fest this Sat.

Edgardo Cambon “El Sonero De Uruguay” (Photo Left-Tom Ehrlich) continues to be a dynamic presence in the SF Bay Area Latin scene due to his talents as a sonero, conguero, composer and bandleader. He has fine honed his fiery all-star ensemble Candela that have kept audiences dancing for the past 3 plus decades. Cambon also leads a smaller, explosive group LaTiDo which has received acclaim performing at smaller venues such as restaurants and intimate clubs. It’s no wonder that Cambon and his ensembles are so popular that they work multiple dates a week.

Edgardo also received international exposure through his appearance on lead vocals along with Irakere and Los Muñequitos De Matanzas on the 1996 Afrocubanismo Live recording. Edgardo has also been featured as lead vocalist of great SF based groups such as the Karl Perazo/Michael Spiro all-star Karabali band, Christian Pepin’s Orquesta Bembe and conjunto VibraSON. Candela has recorded four recordings of explosive music including the timely satirical song “Rey Sin Corona”. Cambon always delivers a high-energy performance on lead vocals and masterful congas with a crack band of top-notch musicians performing original material and his unique twist on crowd favorites.

Edgardo Cambon and Candela will be appearing at 2:45 pm at The 3rd Annual Bay Area Latin Jazz Festival this coming Saturday, August 20th at Rowell Ranch, 9725 Dublin Canyon Road in Castro Valley. For tickets and information, please visit www.bayarealatinjazzfestival.com.
