Mayito Rivera This Friday Nov. 4th at Roccapulco

El Poeta De La Rumba…Mayito Rivera, formerly lead vocalist for the iconic Cuban band Los Van Van will be appearing on this Friday night, Nov. 4th, 9 pm at Roccapulco, 3140 Mission Street, SF. Mayito (pictured left) is a superstar whose charismatic presence compliments his powerful distinctive voice. Rivera has an effortless ability to sing rumba, timba, salsa, son and bolero. Rivera was part of the classic 90’s Van Van vocal frontline along with Pedrito Calvo and Roberto “Roberton” Hernandez.

Songs that Mayito recorded with Los Van Van became hits and his signature tunes such as “La Bomba Soy Yo”, “Soy Normal, Natural” and “Soy Todo”, and”De La Havana A Matanzas”. Rivera began recording his renowned solo projects while he was still part of Los Van Van and collaborating in projects with stars such as Alexander Abreu, Maykel Blanco, Alain Perez and Luis Frank”s Soneros De Verdad to name a few.

Mayito is coming out with a new recording and will be joined by his own orchestra on Friday night at Roccapulco. He has currently collaborated with the esteemed son group El Septeto Santiaguero on their new recording “Y Sigo Pa’Lante” with a remake of the classic son “Sazonando”. Rivera is also featured on the new song from Italian DJ/Producer Pablo Timba on the title track from his all star studded recording Reverencia.

Joining Mayito will be a lineup of Cuban dance/Timba dj’s including DJ Leydis, DJ Antonio, Pepe Timba, Jimmy Rumba and DJ Cubita. Dancer Yismari Ramos will be featured during Rivera’s set.
