The scheduled appearance of India (pictured left), la Princesa De La Salsa scheduled for last night, March 11th was postponed due to illness. The show has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 24th at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame. Tickets will be honored for the June show. There will be two shows are at 7:30 and 10 pm. This is Aragon’s first visit in quite a number of years and always a joy to check out this masterful charango in action. The SF Salsa Festival is right around the corner scheduled for Thursday, March 23 through Saturday March 25th. La 33 direct from Colombia will be headlining on Saturday, March 25th, timbalero extraordinare Eric Rangel and his Orquesta America will headline on Friday, March 24th and the Cabanijazz Project will be performing at the kick-off party at El Valenciano on Valencia near 22nd St. in San Francisco’s Mission District on Thursday, March 23rd. The activities will move to the SF Airport Marriott Waterfront, 1800 Old Bayshore Highway in Burlingame for Friday and Saturday’s activities. All star dancers from around the world will be giving dance lessons, workshops and boot camps for beginners, intermediate and advanced dancers on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Friday evening will feature dance performances, live music by Eric Rangel and guest DJ’s in two rooms featuring Salsa, Bachata and Zouk and more. On Saturday, there will be dance performances, live music by La 33, DJ’s in 2 rooms. A new feature for this year includes a Silent “Disco” featuring DJ’s playing Salsa and Bachata on headphones that are provided to dancers! For tickets and info, visit sfsalsafestival.com. Short Bits: Look out for Los Van Van to visit the SF Bay Area around Carnaval San Francisco weekend (Memorial Day Weekend). They’re back after their triumphant show with Havana D’Primera last year at the UC Theatre.…..The Homenaje A Larry Harlow outdoor dance/concert is shaping up for Saturday, May 13th from 2 to 6 pm at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center, 800 Foster City Blvd. in Foster City. Renowned percussionist, radio host, bandleader, educator and former Harlow band member Bobby Sanabria will be a special guest joining the MP All Star Salsa Project.
