Music News: World Salsa Radio 1st Anniversary & More

I’m back from my Birthday break, feel refreshed and ready to give you the following news: WorldSalsaRadio.com is celebrating it’s 1st Anniversary with a fundraiser for the station this Saturday, July 10th. I have been broadcasting my program “Sabiduria Con Tumbao” every Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM PST. The fundraiser will feature 20 WorldSalsaRadio.com DJs-Radio Personalities will be broadcasting live from all over the world ranging from Europe, Mexico and the United States starting at Midnight. Proceeds from this fundraising marathon will help pay music royalties, annual fees, licenses and other administrative costs. I will be hosting my one hour set at 4 PM PST. Coming up this weekend a tribute to Fania legend/timbalero/percussionist Louie “Timbalito” Romero on Sunday, July 11, 6 pm at Rocky’s Market in Brooklyn Basin in Oakland. He is special guest joining the fine group, La Mixta Criolla who play Bomba, Plena and Afro-Puerto Rican music led by the renowned educator/percussionist/vocalist Hector Lugo and featuring top Bay Area musicians such as tresero/guitarist Camilo Landau and bassist Ayla Davila. Romero also leads his own acclaimed Salsa orchestra Mazacote and hosts his own Salsa Roots radio show on WorldSalsaRadio.com on Mondays at 7 PM PST. Not to be missed!

Latin Jazz legend Pete Escovedo and his talented sons Juan and Peter Michael are back with his orchestra at the official reopening of famed Yoshi’s nightclub in Oakland this coning weekend.
