Pedrito Martinez kicks off Yerba Buena Gardens Fest! New SF Scene Opens Up on Broadway & More!

The annual Yerba Buena Gardens Festival will have it’s official kick-off for 2024 on Saturday, May 4th from 1 to 3:30 pm featuring the phenomenal vocalist/percussionist Pedrito Martinez (photo-Luis Medina) and his group! Cuban rising star La Dame Blanche will be opening up the show. Martinez, a dynamic performer, excellent percussionist and dancer whose exciting Afro-Cuban based music blurs genres has performed and collaborated with such artists as Wynton Marsalis, Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, Chucho Valdes, Eddie Palmieri, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Jackson Browne, Elton John, Issac Delgado and Sting. Martinez is known for his incendiary live performances

Renowned Producer/pianist Israel “Izzy” Tanenbaum of his own Latinbaum Productions and one of the San Francisco Bay Area best vocalist/percussionists, Edgardo Cambon of Candela and LaTiDo fame have joined forces to form a new Salsa orchestra Orquesta Fama. Izzy whose Latin Jazz recording “Impressions” on Zoho last year made a lot of radio DJ top 10 lists for the best of 2023 has put together a band featuring hand picked talent from Puerto Rico and other destinations to be part of this new Orchestra Fama.

They are the featured artists every Thursday night as Latinbaum and Cambon’s Pan Caliente Productions are producing a new Salsa night at the stylish FAME nightclub in San Francisco at 443 Broadway Street at the site of the old punk nightclub Mabuhay Gardens. Rasa Vitalia gives dance lessons at 7:30 pm and this week, DJ Carlitos Way spins in between the sets. Latin Jazz great Poncho Sanchez will be bringing his swinging Latin Jazz/Salsa band to Yoshi’s, Jack London Square in Oakland this coming Friday April 26 and Saturday, April 27th. Drummer/percussionist Brian Andres will be bringing his Latin Quartet to Mr. Tipples Jazz Club at 39 Fell Street in SF this coming Friday night. Shows at 9 and 10:30 pm.
