Stephen Curry Film @SF Film/KPFA Radio Celebrates 74 years & Music News 4/14/23

The opening night of the 66th San Francisco International Film Festival at Oakland’s Grand Lake Theatre was a triumph! The premiere night featured director Peter Nicks documentary on Basketball superstar and one of the most influential players in NBA history, Stephen Curry of our own Golden State Warriors. The film “Stephen Curry: Underrated” blends intimate cinéma vérité, on-camera interviews and archival footage documenting Curry’s rise from small town Davidson College to a four time NBA champion. Curry became the NBA’s all-time leader in 3 point shots, revolutionizing Basketball’s strategy. Producer/Director Peter Nicks and co-producer/Academy Award nominee Ryan Coogler were in attendance for a Q and A with Jessie Fairbanks, Director of Programming for SF FILM, after the film screening. It’s is an engaging and entertaining film which showcases Curry’s phenomenal talent, his charismatic personality, his camaraderie with his team and his family life. The film will be released in theaters and on Apple TV this Summer. Check it out!
