Tito Nieves/Daniela Darcourt come to Berkeley this Sat 10/1!

Salsero Tito Nieves and Peruvian sensation Daniela Darcourt will be appearing at the Berkeley’s UC Theatre on this Saturday, October 1st at 8 pm brought to you by Jaffe Events. The duo are starting their US tour and have recorded together on 2021’s “Si Tu Te Atreves” and their current single “No Me Lo Creo”.

Tito Nieves has a career that spans over 4 decades and started his recording career with La Masacre in the seventies. Nieves has always had a powerful voice to go with his early heavy-set persona that earned him the nickname “El Pavorotti De La Salsa” But Nieves’s career really took off when he was lead vocalist with the late 1970’s group Conjunto Clasico featuring songwriter/vocalist Ramon Rodriguez and bandleader/vocalist Ramon Castro. Nieves was one of the first artists that signed with the new fledging RMM Records back in the mid eighties. His solo career took off and he’s had an impressive string of commercial big hits including such songs as “El Amor Más Bonito”, “Sonámbulo”, “Fabricando Fantasias” and the 1996 hit “I Like It Like That” that continues today. He’s had a long relationship with renowned producer Sergio George which includes his latest music with Darcourt. His teaming with Darcourt is the latest chapter in his long, thriving career.

Darcourt, 26, started her career as a dancer at the age of 8 in her native Peru. She participated in televised singing contests and won her first contest on the program Sabados Tropicales at the age of 12. She was a semi finalist on the tv program Peru Tiene Talento at the age of 17. She later joined the popular female salsa group Son Tentación in 2016 and later embarked on a solo career in 2018. She formed her own orchestra and released her first single “Probablemente“. That same year, she was part of a talent contest “El Artista Del Año” and won in her second year on the program. She has had a string of big hits and was streamed by 32 million listeners on Spotify. She has also collaborated with Tony Succar, Septeto Acarey and Alfredo Zambrano to great success in her native Peru. Her two November 2021 concerts “El Recuentro” in Peru sold out in three days cementing her star status in Peru and now expanding worldwide. Her music style leans towards the commercial salsa romantica but displays a powerful set of pipes and a fresh voice in Salsa.

This double bill will be making their SF Bay Area stop which marks Nieves first appearance in the SF Bay Area in years. Darcourt was scheduled to appear with Tony Succar in Roccapulco in 2020 before the COVID hit and the date was cancelled.. For more info, visit www.jaffeevents.com.
