VibraSON at the Bay Area Latin Jazz Fest this Saturday!

The popular SF Bay Area based Latin vibes dance band VibraSON under the direction of bongocero Jake Jacobs will be part of the Bay Area Latin Jazz Festival coming up this Saturday, August 20th at Rowell Ranch, 9725 Dublin Canyon Road in Castro Valley. VibraSON was formed in 2012 when Jacobs, a Salsa dance instructor for over 20 years at various hot dance clubs including the late SF dance palace Cafe Cocomo decided to pursue his dream of playing music and forming a different kind of Salsa band that would especially appeal to the dancer.

Jacobs put together a Salsa vibes oriented band in the style of Joe Cuba and Las Siete Potencias. His dream became a reality when he hooked up with vibraphonist-keyboardist Charlie Barreda, a solid musician who plays the vibraphone with solid chops, authority and style. Throughout the years, VibraSON has enjoyed the participation of top-notch musicians such as pianist-trumpeter Marco Diaz, bassist Saul Sierra, percussionist Christian Pepin, original vocalist Luis Morales-Guidos who later moved to Mexico and was replaced by current lead vocalist Manny Martinez of Azabache and Mazacote fame and percussionist Julio Perez. Charter members include Santana percussionist Karl Perazo, vocalist-conguero Edgardo Cambon, vocalists Christelle Durandy and Carlos Xavier pianists Erick Peralta and Anthony del Barrio, bassists David Pinto and Ernesto Mazar Kindelan.

Their long time residency at Bar Fluxus ended with the sale of the venue a few months ago. However, the band has maintained its popularity and continues to perform in various venues. Their recordings “Llego VibraSON“, “The Latin Vibes Tuesday Remix” and singles such as “La Salsa Buena” have kept this fine ensemble visible to the dancer and the aficionado. They will appear on Saturday, August 20th at 12:15 pm at the 3rd Annual Bay Area Latin Jazz Festival at Rowell Ranch, 9725 Dublin Canyon Road in Castro Valley For tickets and information, visit bayarealatinjazzfestival.com.
